Cargill has recently launched their Red Seaweed Promise™ program to help ensure a long-term sustainable red seaweed supply chain. Designed to address key sustainability challenges for the harvesting and cultivation of red seaweed, while enhancing producer livelihoods, supporting local communities and conserving the marine environment. The Red Seaweed Promise™ program is independently assessed and verified by Proforest, a world leader in supporting the sustainable management and sourcing of natural resources and smallholder development. Cargill has also committed to the Waxy Corn Promise™ program, which means they source waxy corn 100% sustainably from European farmers to ensure a long-term sustainable crop supply for food starch. Their Waxy Corn Promise™ program is externally verified and benchmarked as a silver level program by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform (SAI Platform).
Corbion received an EcoVadis Gold Rating in 2019—a rating which puts them amongst the best 1% of all rated companies in the chemical sector worldwide. They have additionally approved targets for the Science Based Targets™ initiative, and the majority of Corbion’s revenue is tied to UN Sustainability Goals, including Goal #3-Good Health & Wellbeing, and Goal #12-Responsible Consumption & Production.

Dow has been named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the 20th year, and was also named to Fortune Magazine’s 2019 “Change the World” list.
DSM has a gold rating on EcoVadis (75/100)—a rating which puts them amongst the best 1% of all rated companies in the chemical sector worldwide. They have also received an A rating with the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) for their climate reporting. DSM has been featured three years in a row on the Fortune Magazine list of “Companies Changing the World”, and has been named the Industry Group Leader on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index eight times in the last 15 years. DSM’s largest production site for vitamins A, E, K and Folic Acid is now completely carbon neutral as of 2019, and their proprietary production process for Vitamin E delivers the best sustainability results in the market place (validated by life cycle analysis). A recently completed life cycle analysis on DSM’s Ascorbic Acid shows it is the most sustainable source of vitamin C in the Industry.
IOI has achieved the EcoVadis Gold Rating. Their Malaysian head office releases a Sustainability Report for the IOI Group that presents their economic, environmental, governance and social performance with regards to sustainability. Their Witten site is GMP certified; ISO 14001 and ISO 9001, and their Wittenberge site is certified according to ISO 50001. IOI Oleochemical provide Self-Assessment-Questionnaires for both sites. All palm-based products in their portfolio are available as RSPO MB quality exclusively, and the majority of their personal care products are COSMOS certified, and conform to Natrue requirements as well. Most of their products are from 100% renewable origin, and their entire portfolio is vegan, with most products also both Halal and Kosher certified.
