Propylene glycol is an odorless, colorless, hygroscopic liquid. It is fully hygroscopic and miscible with water, alcohols, esters, ketones, and amines, but exhibits limited miscibility with hydrocarbons. The industrial-grade is used in resin manufacturing (especially UPR), as well as paints and coatings, de-icing, antifreeze, detergents, and brake fluids. The USP grade meets strict quality and handling standards so is appropriate for applications such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food.
