Spectrastat™ PHL is a complete system for self-preserving cosmetic and personal care products. It is especially useful in high water, cold-process, and high clarity applications: e.g. toners, surfactant systems, and wet wipes. It is completely liquid, homogeneous, and pumpable even at low temperatures. Spectrastat™ PHL is suitable for sensitive facial applications, where low irritation is required. Spectrastat™ PHL contains no biocides or typical preservatives. Instead it uses multifunctional agents that have excellent efficacy as biostatic and fungistatic agents. Spectrastat™ PHL is ideal for personal care products as an alternative to parabens, phenoxyethanol, MIT or other preservatives that may be undesirable. Spectrastat™ PHL is effective over a broad pH range from pH 4 - 8 with a typical use level of 2.0 - 3.0% (w/w). Spectrastat™ PHL is also effective in typical personal care products such as creams, lotions, shower gels, and color cosmetics. It may be added to the water phase, at ambient or hot temperatures, or may be added post-emulsification of O/W emulsions.
