Univar Cookie Policy

Cookies are pieces of data that a Site transfers to a user's hard drive or device for record-keeping purposes. Web beacons are transparent pixel images that are used in collecting information about Site usage. Univar’s Sites may use cookies and web beacons to provide enhanced functionality on Sites (e.g., user ID and password prompts) and aggregate traffic data (e.g., what pages are the most popular). We may also use cookies and web beacons in association with e-mails delivered by us. Our Sites capture limited information (user-agent, HTTP referrer, last URL requested by the user, client-side and server-side clickstream) about visits to our Sites; we may use this information to analyze general traffic patterns and to perform routine system maintenance. Our Sites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies" to help us analyze how users use our Sites. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our Sites (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our Sites, compiling reports and providing other services relating to internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of our Sites. By using Univar’s Sites, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. 

Univar Sites may use interfaces with social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and others. If you choose to "like" or share information from our Sites through these services, you should review the privacy policy of that service. If you are a member of a social media site, the interfaces may allow the social media site to connect your Site visit to your PI. Please note that during your visits to our Sites you may notice some cookies which are unrelated to us. When you visit a page with content embedded from, for example, from Twitter or Flickr, you may be presented with cookies from those Sites. We do not control the dissemination of these cookies. You should check the third party Sites for more information about these cookies.

From time to time we may partner or enter into arrangements with another party to provide specific benefits and/or services to our members. We will provide to such partners the information that we believe is reasonably necessary for them to provide such benefits or services to you. If you do not wish to receive communications from our partners or us, you may express your preference to not be so contacted by following the “unsubscribe” instructions on a particular Site. 

This Privacy Notice only addresses Univar’s use and disclosure of your PI. As our Sites may contain links to other Sites, please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other Sites, and we are not liable for their misuse of PI. We encourage you to be aware that when you go to another Site you should carefully read their privacy statement.

We only use cookies to help us continuously improve our Sites and maintain a nice browsing experience for our visitors. Here is a checklist of cookies used on our Sites and their purpose:

  • First-party cookies may be set when you visit our Sites directly. By setting this cookie on your device, our Sites do not have to ask you your preferences every time you visit. This cookie resides on your device and stores logins and passwords to allow you to access private areas without having to log in each time you move to a new page.
  • Session Cookies are used for essential Site functions, and to make sure pages are sent to the browser as quickly and efficiently as possible, remember user preferences i.e. font size and saves you from logging in every time you visit. Session cookies are only stored temporarily in the browser's memory, and are destroyed when it is closed down, although they will survive navigating away from the website they came from.
  • Persistent cookies may be used to track a Site visitor’s behavior as you move around our Site. We use Google Analytics to try and understand what people do and don't like about our Sites so they can be improved.
  • Secure Cookies protects cookies when they transmitting from your device to our servers and HTTPOnly cookies are used to protect your HTTP and HTTPS session when accessing our Sites.
  • Third party cookies may occasionally be used from companies advertising on our behalf. We do not control these cookies they are not subject to this cookie policy. We work with third-party advertising companies like AddThis who may utilize flash or enhanced cookies or web beacons to better provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you. These partners do not have access to or use your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number or other PI from us. They may, however, anonymously track your Internet usage across other Sites in their networks beyond these Sites.   • Web Beacons A web beacon or flash cookie (also known as "action tags", "tracer tags", or "singlepixel gifs") is an invisible graphic on a web page that is programmed to collect non-personal information about your use of a given Site. We do not share or provide PI we may collect through such web beacons, such as names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers without your express permission. We may also use "web storage" to store data about your use of our Sites. Web Storage is a feature in some browsers that permits Sites to store data within your browser rather within a cookie. This should make this data more secure and make your browser perform better. We do not share or provide PI we may store in web storage, such as names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers without your express permission.

You have the ability to accept, decline and delete cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but, if you prefer, you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies. If you delete your cookies or if you set your web browser to decline cookies, some features on our websites may not work or not work as designed.
